six degrees of separation (well only five, but ya know…)

I was just thinking about how we humans are interconnected…and the title popped up into my head.  Fandango started me on this mind travel this time….he posted about reading the bag lady’s post which was from another post from another post…and I thought we all are connected to each other somehow. Through our blogs, our families, jobs, past-times.

I liked the answers he gave to the posed questions in Cheryl’s blog, and thought I want to answer them too.

So thanks to:

Questions for Book Lovers

1.  Do you have a specific place for reading? Nope. I read everywhere. My front porch swing, the living room, kitchen table or standing at the stove. I read in parking lots waiting for whomever (usually my grand daughter), any office that makes me wait more than a minute, in bed……I always have a book with me, either a “real” one or the Kindle or both.
2.  Bookmark or random piece of paper. bookmarks..except for the kindle. it remembers wherever I stopped. I have fancy ones, metal ones, silk ribbon ones and these!
3.  Do you eat or drink whilst reading? yes. I have to eat sometimes so of necessity I must eat while reading. I’m not about to stop reading to go eat.
4.  Music or TV while reading? Nope..at least i don’t think so. When I read I am transported into another time, space and life. I can’t even hear the phone ringing when I am reading to the complete annoyance of my friend Angie.
5.  One book at a time or several? three or four at a time actually. different genres so i don’t get confused.
6.  Do you prefer to read at home or elsewhere? doesn’t matter. I read literally everywhere I go.
7.  Read out loud or silently? I HATE when people read out loud. Unless you are reading for the babies and little kids or the elderly or blind, you’d better just hush up around me.
8.  Do you read ahead or skip pages? No. I don’t want to spoil the storyline.
9.  Break the spine or keep it new? People that break the spines of books should be imprisoned somewhere and given ONLY horrible comic books.
10.  Do you write in books? Only if they are meant to be written upon..I have three Bibles and a Koran I have written in. They are all study versions of one sort or another.
11.  What books are you reading now?  Foucault’s Pendulum by Umberto Eco, the Old Man and the Sea: Ernest Hemingway, and Fools and Mortals by Bernard Cornwell.
12.  What is your childhoods favourite book?  Misty of Chincoteague.
13.  What is your all-time favourite book and why do you love it?   Wow……..I suppose it is “The Good Earth” by Pearl S Buck.  I think I read it about once a year, and have done since my teens.  Each time I read it I find nuances I missed or have forgotten.  Go read it yourself and find out why I keep reading it over and over again. I dare ya!

  1. Oh, I saw this when Diana posted it, and I think I saved it to do later. Now I really do have to, because, you know…:) …Some good questions on here, but we differ on a few. (please don’t put me in prison because I break the spine of the books ..only the ones I own) 🙂
