playing in the dirt with George……..

Today, after planning for a total of possibly 2 hours, Poor George and I decided to grab our best buds and go play in the dirt.  Yes, I know that playing in the dirt is not a “normal” pastime for four adults..but we did it anyway.

George and I (mostly me) threw a shovel, some bottled water, a rug, a spade and various items possibly needed for dirt digging into the back of the truck and drove over to get our friends. the dogs of course had to come along to spend the day with their best friends. After dumping the dogs inside Angie’s house, we all piled into her van…yes we grabbed all dirt digging accoutrements first and headed northwest. Angie and I were chauffeured (we got stuck in the back seat) and discussed our respective footwear..I even took pictures so people can see what we were talking about. Anyway, we eventually got to Salt Plains State Wildlife Refuge in Jet, Oklahoma. jet is a teensy tiny town (I swear it took 3 seconds to drive through it) with a cool park. DSCN3986 DSCN3987 DSCN3988 DSCN3989

…and we started digging for crystals. That was the whole point of going after all, to dig in the dirt.  We found dozens of really small crystals and Angie and George found some pretty incredible ones.  I found one shaped like a L and one that looked sort of like a T…they found some truly wonky ones.

And just to prove I was indeed playing in the mud……….here are some pictures to prove it.  Just title this whole day “Suze painting with mud!

And a few of the cleaned crystals we found…just so you all know we weren’t just making mud pies!

(I experimented with backgrounds…I like the blue one best!)
